According to Article 7 of the SUP Plastics Directive (Directive 2019/904 Single Use Plastics), products must be labelled as being made partly or wholly of plastic. From 3 July 2021*, the EU Single Use Plastics Directive requires turtle graphics on beverage cups that contain any amount of plastic. The EU has included bio-based and compostable materials such as PLA in the definition of plastic, so new rules for all traditional cups.
