Disposable plastic food containers can be made from different types of plastic, such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) or PET (polyethylene terephthalate). Each of these materials has its own properties and uses, e.g. PET is often used for beverage bottles, while PP is popular for hot food containers because it tolerates high temperatures well.

Practical lunch boxes

Biodegradable food containers are often made of plant-based materials, such as sugar cane or other plant-based raw materials, among others. These materials can decompose under the right composting conditions.
