From year to year, ramen is gaining popularity, which means the demand for packaging that ensures safe transport of the dish is constantly growing. No restaurant wants to worry about whether the container is leakproof or strong enough not to “fall apart” under the heat of the meal. It’s important to remember that choosing the right packaging is not only an aesthetic matter but also one that directly affects customer comfort.
Packaging materials
- Coated paper – lightweight, practical, and moisture-resistant. The coating protects the paper from soaking through, so you don’t have to worry whether your paper container will reach the customer “in one piece.” However, this comes with the need to pay a fee related to the SUP Directive.
- Sugarcane – a biodegradable alternative to other types of packaging. It is 100% compostable, as confirmed by certifications. When choosing sugarcane containers, it’s important to keep in mind that liquids should not remain in such packaging for too long, as it will start to soften.
- Polypropylene (PP) – containers made from this material are characterized by the highest level of leakproofness, thanks to perfectly fitting lids. The material does not deform or soak through. However, similar to coated containers, an additional fee related to the SUP Directive must be taken into account. Polypropylene packaging should be sorted together with plastic waste.
Accessories
The dish itself is not everything; it’s worth providing the right accessories with the order. Disposable chopsticks allow the customer to enjoy ramen wherever they are, without having to worry about utensils. It’s a small detail that positively influences the customer’s perception of your restaurant.
Size
The material is a very important criterion when choosing packaging, but it’s also worth ensuring the right size for the portions you serve. Diameter also matters – with larger containers, you make it easier for the customer to eat the dish directly from the container without having to transfer the contents to a new bowl.
